About MeMusic Teacher
I teach K-5 general music and children's choir in North Clackamas School District in Oregon. In 2011, I received my Bachelor of Music degree in Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. After years of working as a composer for TV and video games, I received my Master of Education degree from Portland State University in 2017. Teaching Philosophy I am a Kodaly-inspired educator, currently pursuing my Kodaly certification. I believe that music literacy is something to be proud of and can be a lot of fun to learn! Community is at the heart of everything we do in my class. I believe that games and movement are vital to teaching children how to navigate and understand their communities and themselves. Almost 100% of the music that we sing and play is traditional folk and children's music from around the world or historically notable music. I believe children deserve nothing less. Mindfulness is also a big part of my teaching. I believe that mindfulness and meditation can help children to understand themselves and their emotions, and teach them how to work together to make the best music possible. This happens through breathing, listening, and awareness. My Store I love music education and I'm passionate about helping other teachers have fun with their students in meaningful ways. So, this year I decided to start selling content on TeachersPayTeachers.com. There, you can find lessons, activities, units, and worksheets. |
